Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Below are some of the most common questions we get about Ovrtime and how this early-stage version of the platform works.
01
What is Ovrtime?
Ovrtime is a platform that connects students and temporary workers with local businesses who need extra help. You simply browse available shifts, apply, get approved, turn up, do a great job, and get paid the following week.
02
How does the process work?
-
Businesses post shifts
-
Students discover and apply via the Discover Shifts page.
-
Ovrtime approves the application
-
Confirmation email is sent (includes all shift details)
-
You complete the shift
-
You get paid the following week
03
Why is there no app at the moment?
We’re currently operating a skeleton (minimum viable version) of Ovrtime so we can test the concept quickly, learn what users actually need, and build the right platform from day one.
This first version is delivered via website only to keep it lean and fast.
The feedback we get during this launch will be used to design and build the native app.

💡 In short – no app yet, because we want to build the right product, not just a product.
04
So is this the final version of Ovrtime?
No — this is an early launch version. The goal of this phase is to prove the process works, collect feedback from businesses and students, and rapidly develop the full app based on real usage.
The full version of Ovrtime (including the app) will come after this initial testing phase.
05
Who can apply for shifts?
At this stage, Ovrtime is available to a select group of local businesses and pre-approved student pools. If you’re not currently taking part but would like to get involved please get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.
06
How will I know if I’ve been approved?
Once Ovrtime approves your application, you’ll receive an email confirmation detailing:
-
Date / time
-
Location
-
Tasks
-
Who to report to on arrival
07
What kind of tasks will I be doing?
Tasks depend on the shift but typically include:
-
Report to the on-duty manager
-
Service drinks and restock supplies
-
Serve tables / support front-of-house
08
When do I get paid?
Payment is processed weekly (usually the following week after completing your shift).
09
Can I apply for more than one shift?
Yes — you can apply for as many shifts as you want. Just make sure you’re available for any shift you apply for.
10
What happens if I can’t attend an approved shift?
Please let us know as soon as possible so we can find a replacement. Not attending without notice may impact your ability to take on future shifts.
11
Why do businesses use Ovrtime?
It solves the biggest operational problem: finding reliable temporary staff quickly.
We handle the staffing process so businesses can focus on running their venues.
12
Who do I contact if I have a question?
